The pressure of 1 JAN
The pressure of 1st Jan
Not to mention New Year’s resolutions are coming on the heels of holiday engagements that can leave us feeling emotionally exhausted. We may hear all discussions focused on setting up new year goals!
Most of the times, we start thinking about new year goals that starts on 1st Jan on paper and 2 Jan in reality (not sure about the actual ACT) isn’t it? We need social media to prepare our new year review video so we are reminded of the year passed. When we shift our focus entirely to new year goals, we are ignoring the wisdom, learning and happiness of the year that has passed.
Its time to forget about new year resolution and focus more on this year reflection!
The question is “Have we reflected on the year mindfully?”
We have the power to channelize our mind where we wish to! Hence, instead of setting up new year goals, how about having a mindful reflection and be happy in the moment.
Here is how we do it:
Below 4 questions will help you reflect!
- What made me happy?
Our mind usually ignores what made us happy in the last year as we are more focused on what made me unhappy. May be opportunities lost, wrong decisions, unpleasant events to name a few. Its time to shift our thinking and recollect what is it that made me happy. Remember! There is no need to weigh it small or big, as far as you are happy!
- Have I grown in any way?
Here I am not asking about your physical weight lol! The question is, have I grown mentally, emotionally, spiritually, financially or in any other way! This will help you realise what all things you have changed in you that made you grow. This not only gives you confidence, but also another chance to love yourself more!
- Have I learnt to let go?
Letting go is the biggest action to free yourself from everything that is holding you back. These could be thoughts, beliefs, people or any memory that block your growth. Letting go not only removes all your unwanted energy that you were carrying inside you, but also creates space to allow positive energy and new thoughts.
- What am I thankful for?
There is nothing empowering than having something to be grateful for! These are the things that you have taken granted. The smallest gratitude can make you smile and be happy isn’t it? If you can’t think of anything, let’s be happy about our health, functioning body senses and the most important thing, i.e. breath! Remember, Gratitude ignites passion! Passion to create more, Passion to Live fullest
Let’s reflect mindfully on the year passed and your new year is automatically taken care of! Forget the pressure of 1 Jan and New year resolutions, as we need not wait for 1st Jan to start something! Our 1st Jan is on our mind.
Remember! Your new year starts the moment you are aware!
